HEALTH GUARANTEE and BEYOND
Basic Health---Upon arrival, your new best buddy should be in perfect health. Within the first week after arrival, new owners should take their pups to see a licensed veterinarian for a checkup. Should any illness or genetic defect be found, Saline Acres should be notified immediately. Upon return of the puppy and verification from the kennel’s veterinarian, Saline Acres will provide a new puppy from current litters available, place the owner on the next Pick List for a replacement puppy or refund the cost of the puppy in question. Saline Acres will not be responsible for shipping costs.
All pups receive age based vaccinations and are wormed every two weeks beginning at two weeks of age. Dew claws are removed and tails are docked within 2-4 days of birth. Pups can be left natural upon request, but must be chosen immediately after birth and paid for in full. Should any puppy need verterinary care for any reason, all on the Pick List will be notified and kept up to date with the recovery process.
We encourage prospective owners to visit the kennel to see for themselves the healthy environment in which the pups are raised. We are not a “Mill”. Even though our kennel building is in our backyard, we feel that we do not fit the standard of a “backyard breeder”. To this day, Saline Acres has been a business that has yet to report a profit, as all “profits” and beyond have gone into upgrades to the facility for the dogs’ benefits. When we run out of plausable upgrades, we will begin to profit—and not before. Therefore, our rewards to date have been the smiling faces, cheerful thank yous, the ever welcome pictures of the pups with the new families and the many friendships we have built.
Beyond the Basics—It is expected of new owners to keep their dogs in good health. This would include regular checkups, quality food, quality living environment and regular vaccinations. We highly suggest preventatives such as “Heartguard” or the equivalent. Conditions or illnesses contracted after they go home and have been given an initial clean bill of health by your licensed veterinarian are not covered by this guarantee. We guarantee them to arrive healthy, as stated above, but we have no control over their care and assume no responsibility once they have joined your family.
Should a genetic based condition arise, we will make good with the owner by same means as stated above in the “Basic Health” for a period of one year. We buy quality when seeking out kennel stock—all of which become our pets, living in our home. Beginning in October 2017, our adult dogs will have genetic testing for PRA and PFK, and by O.F.A. certfication for condition of the hips. Those who may be found to be unsuitable will be spayed/neutered and removed from the breeding program.
NOT COVERED, ETC…---Saline Acres doe not make it a regular practice to sell Full Registration/Breedable pups. We do this as we are a Pet/Hunting Companion breeder. We also wish to guarantee that they do not end up with one who would breed irresponsibly or be a “Mill” owner. In such case that one has expressed the desire for a full registration for one our our pups and has passed our rigorous question/answer process to be considered, there will be no guarantee as to the pup’s quality as a breeder upon adulthood. One cannot know if any dog will be a quality breeder until the time comes.
Should one have a question regarding this guarantee, we encourage you to ask. Upon doing so, we reserve the right to use said question to amend this document for further clarification purposes.
Any dog found to be, in general, not well cared for, overweight, or otherwise in poor health due to lack of proper care or medical attention, will not be covered.
Should disagreement occur that results in litigation, said venue and jurisdiction for said litigation will be Jefferson County, Missouri. Any decision in favor of Saline Acres will include payment of all legel fees by the Plaintiff.
Your purchase of a pup, or retired adult from Saline Acres, stands as your agreement with these terms.
